Sandaig Walk, The Intertidal Zone

27 JULY 2024

JOSS MAIN, MARINE BIOLOGIST

Joss Main led a guided walk down to Sandaig beach to look at the intertidal zone - the area of coastline exposed at low tide and submerged at high tide including rock pools.

This dynamic environment where land and sea meet is characterised by fluctuating conditions including moisture, temperature, salinity, and wave action. We looked at some of the organisms living amongst the seaweed and in the rock pools in the wonderful place that is Sandaig. The walk included some beach cleaning and also photography guidance from the Glenelg Camera Collective.
