About The Project
The Over The Mam Project started in May 2024, with the aim of providing the community with an opportunity to engage with local nature where possible using photography. The project included litter picking, a number of local nature workshops and some photographic workshops run by the Glenelg Camera Collective, a group of local photographer enthusiasts. These provided a forum for education along with a social opportunity for beach cleaning. Funding for the many parts of the project was from the Highlands and Islands Environment Foundation (HIEF), and we are very grateful for their support.

This project included the mapping of some of our area's biodiversity by encouraging people to photograph and record any observations on the citizen science platform iNaturalist. This was further encouraged with the Over The Mam Photo Competition, with its aim to encourage photography, environmental awareness, and foster community spirit. Examples from the fabulous entries for the competition are on display on this website.
